Molly, your precision and dedication to your craft is palpable. Such
amazing attention to detail and skill in all of your works. “The Cross After
Death” is a real achievement. Can you describe the process of creating a many
color reduction linocut?

Reduction Linocut is carved from a single linoleum block, and each
color constitutes one run on the press. Generally, the method is to begin with the
lightest color, carving out only the whites. Each subsequent color I  a shade darker and is printed over the
preceding colors. The tricky thing to remember is that you print the color
before you carve away the part of the image where you will see it. So, The
Cross After Death was run through the press 20 times, once for each color, and
the darkest blue on the image has 19 layers of ink beneath it.
