Madeleine, Madeleine, you amazing girl. It’s fantastic
that you are experimenting with alternative processes, and you do it so well!
You’ve gone and turned your stunning black and white prints into these amazing,
uniquely ethereal images. There’s so much texture and depth to each one and the
color gradients are so intriguing. Boy in Sapa is an especially powerful image.
The shading and texture are incredible and add an extra dimension to an already
wonderful image.

Thank you Emma! The tintype process is so tedious and
sensitive, but I’ve learned to embrace the mess ups and fading tones. I like
how the tintypes themselves force viewers to look at each image on a more
intimate and close-up level. The young boy in Sapa was very photogenic (as you
can see) and his eyes really grabbed the lens. All I had to do was click the shutter!
