Roanna Tella is best known for her expressive oil portraits which tends to engage the audience. She is a Lagos based visual storyteller born on the 29th of June in Lagos, Nigeria. Being an artist in practice for 2 years, she is highly influenced by conversations she has with people but mostly observations and their behaviour to certain occasions.
Her works are rendered in painting and photography. Roanna's works are discoveries of various emotions people go through, seeking to explore depression/distress in the aged through her art.
Her figurative heads are placed before spontaneous brush strokes of colour which suggests movement. She focuses on a single subject for a sustained period which results in her fusing each of the paintings into a story.
With her continuous research, Roanna engages with set arrangement and composition and how every little detail aids in telling the narrative better - of which she incorporates into her carefully planned conceptual photographs.
