Esra Nesipogullari’s graduate thesis helped her to establish a comparative understanding of how

epistemological differences of time and context can be important in shaping culture. 

Interested in fostering relationships between people and objects,

she says “Similitudes between all things can be found within every object.” 

To illustrate how all things are related, separated only by space and times,

she references “Foucault’s four main elements of episteme: conventia, aemulatio, analogia,

and sympatheia.” (M.Foucault, The Order of Things)

About the Artist

Esra Nesipogulları, born in Turkey in 1991, is an architect and self-taught multidisciplinary artist

currently residing in Italy. After working two years in several architectural design studios in London, Istanbul, and Mantua, she moved to the art and curatorial field. Her works often respond

to personal stories in cultural and political contexts.
