In 'The Dying of the Light' series abandoned and destroyed spaces are represented in a night atmosphere. The images allude to the transience of things, their fragility and inconsistency, and the decisive role of factors we can’t control. The project title is taken from a verse of the poem "Do not go gentle into that good night" by Dylan Thomas, in which the poet gives poetic form to the constant human struggle against death, against "that good night." The poem reflects the unwavering spirit of human survival against the forces of nature: "Rage, rage against the dying of the light."
In meeting with a visual medium, and following the poet, darkness and night are here presented not only as symbols of danger and tragedy but also of mystery and dreams. Through a pictorial language that runs from the sinister to the sublime, these landscapes become a psychological and physical portrait of the human condition and of our immediate environment.
