Experimental Black and White Photography
with a Burst of Colour

Shyamolie Madhavji

Mumbai, India

My photography is inspired by people, objects, architecture and visuals

that I see on any mundane day in Mumbai.

Since most of my artwork is based on my cultural background from Kutch,

my hometown in North West India,
I tend to make connections with this place and its people.

I like to experiment with photographs, editing them in Photoshop by adding a touch
of pop art and quirkiness.

Photography helps me translate my thoughts into paintings and experiment creatively.

This process allows me to brainstorm ideas using a sketchbook, and inspires me
to transfer these visuals onto canvas.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

I am a passionate visual artist, textile lover and free-lance set designer. Being brought up in a family full
of art lovers and established artists, it is no surprise that I have won
a genetic lottery and imbibed this
rich heritage. Being raised in Mumbai I am accustomed
to the main hub of street art,
popular art festivals and exhibitions.

I completed my BA with honors in Fine Art and graduated from the Arts University of Bournemouth
in 2020. After spending three years of experimenting with painting,
installation, media,
photography and curation, I founded
Face-prints
where I am working
on paintings and textile prints in my art studio.
