LAHORE TO DELHI

‘Lahore to Delhi’ is a part of the House Mapping Project, which was developed during a workshop organised by Shrine Empire Gallery. Here, the migration from Lahore to Delhi has been mapped through objects, drawings, texts and photographs, with  Paharganj as the central site of interaction amongst various families about narratives of migration.

The mapping starts with an object that unlocks the photographs of various families and their possessions. What is left behind due to the Partition is then seen through this passage from the past to the present, enabled through archiving the photographs and then mapping histories of loss and trauma through the process. The entry into these histories was made prominent by exploring certain landmarks as points of transition from one space to another—as points of finding a house which lies in conversation at the crossroads of a political line.This entire mapping has attempted to trace the journey from losing a home and then finding a home in a different space
